The extras include English translations, unreleased prototypes, unlicensed games, e.
After doing a bit looking, it does have a lot of the classical NES titles that a lot of us remember. Who ever made this RAR file also did the right thing by putting the files in the places they belong in. (PD files in a PD folder, etc.) It's also separated by country as well. It also includes Pirated, Hacked, Unlicensed, even Translated titles.
Now let me explain this a bit. If you can't find the title, you may need to look under the 'World' folder as that includes titles that is world known, such as Hogan's Alley, Excite Bike, Duck Hunt, Mario Bros., Popeye, & Gyromite, to name a few. My only concern is that there is no 'Japanese' titles, let alone folder. So, although it does have a very good collection of NES titles, just curious why it does not include Japanese titles. (Yes, I am aware that a lot of titles are translated in Japan as well as USA, but there are also a ton of titles that are not in any other country other than Japan.
Yes, the 'Translated' folder has Japanese titles, but some of us prefer the original translations of the game. Mainly because sometimes the 'translated' titles have bugs due to the translation, and sometimes crash the game.).

Under the Hood! Part 2:) See it in action!!
Part 1:) UPDATE 4-25-17 I have reached a pinnacle achievement, 3000+ Games! At under 300 MB! Video will be posted, sometime this week! There is quite a bit of technical stuff going on in my testing. There may very well be a 'breaking point', where you simply have TOO MANY games. I have done similar stress tests when trying to maximize entries on MP3 players, Phones, etc, in the past. I would downsize the bit rate for music, so that I could fit more songs.
But, there was almost always a limit to exactly how many files could be processed and effectively run. You could add, say 1000 songs to a generic mp3 player, that may only be able to handle 500 files.
Every file after 500, would skip instantly, as it couldn't be read. The same may potentially hold true for the 381 mb of total space on the Mini NES. I am trying to go as far as I can possibly go, without 'breaking' things! But, rest assured, I will keep posting updates on my progress:) I am hoping to incorporate Atari 5200 core into my setup! And, suggestions from people, I have also added to my set! UPDATE 4-23-17 I researched a lot to find a more streamlined method for those without Photoshop to Gain Back space.
A 2500 Game Build with all of the pertinent HMOD Dependencies, requires special preparation and follow-through to succeed. If you do not do it properly, you will end up with 'broken' HMODs and/or potential memory conflicts. I will do my best to lay out ground rules and guidelines to follow when everything is said and done! A lot of you have been messaging me about, 'why didn't you include this, and why didn't you include that! I am fullfilling a few of those requests, and adding those specific games, and just leaving them deselected:) I will try to post another video or few, and do my best to get a release! UPDATE 4-22-17 I have nearly 1 GB of data squeezed onto this Mini! There is still work to do.
But, every minute I put into the set, makes things even better! Most of you are accustomed to the USA Set of NES. But, not all are aware of some of the fantastic games that never saw the light of day in US, such as Holy Diver, Splatterhouse SD, Secret Ties, U-Fouria, Konami World 2, the list goes on!
Nes Usa Rom Pack
I have thrown a ton of these hidden gems onto the Mini! UPDATE: 4-21-17 ALL Sets are fully compressed, using my compression techniques. There are other tricks to save a few more mb, here and there. But, some of them are not very aesthetically pleasing. Setup is currently at: -Arcade (Best Of & Personal Faves) -Atari 2600 (Full Set) -Atari 7800 (Full Set) -Atari Lynx (Full Set) -Colecovision (Full Set) -Gameboy Black & White (Full Set) -NES (Full Set) -Sega Game Gear (Full Set) -Sega Genesis (Best Of & Personal Faves) -Sega Master System (Full Set) -SNES (Best Of & Personal Faves) -Turbografx-16 (Full Set) My Set is a template, and games can easily be added, just so long as one deselect games, to match what are added.
Now, here is the 'Kicker'. This is where my work will really come into play.
It is one thing to get 2500 games in at 299mb. It is another, to get 2500 games in, UNDER 299mb. That is the key component I am working towards, goal wise. The ideal setup would be 299 minus the Hmods that need installed. This would leave room for save states, and furthermore, better avoid potential c8 issues in the long run. I did intentionally test with c8 inducing perimeters, just to observe how various setups would handle them. I have also streamlined methods of easily fixing c8 errors, without messing with the integrity of the Mini NES setup.
Most people tend to freak out and think they have to wipe everything! This is not the case. Main thing is, we are all pushing the limits.
Me, I am REALLY pushing the limits. Atlas de anatomia humana online. So, I am doing stress tests just to see exactly how far I can push the system. UPDATE 4-19-17 Successfully added full Atari Lynx (These games are absolutely goofy to play!) Set in compressed form with proper command line argument fixes to save another 34 MB!!!!
Knocked 5 MB off of Atari 7800 by changing to compressed form and fixing command lines. 2500 will only change as a final number of games, at this point.if I decide on more SNES, GENESIS, or ARCADE GAMES!
There may be a few diamonds in the rough that I may add to the previous mentioned 3 sets. My latest test had all 2500 games successfully flashed, with all necessary HMODS installed. ALL work:) UPDATE 4-17-21 Now at 2427 Games! Setup achieved by using advanced compression techniques and a few other tweaks. If enough people show interest, I may 'torrent' or otherwise upload my Final Revised set:) And, I welcome any input or suggestions for any minor revisions:) I want the set to be a 'Flawless Victory'.
Thanks for the support! It has been awesome hanging with you all, and personally helping 100s of you via teamviewer and text message, up to this point!
May you all get to enjoy the result of all my hard work soon enough! PS, if any of you have not gotten to enjoy the Nintendo Powers I previously worked on Project Wise, feel free to PM me for info:) Over 100,000 downloads over the last 13 years! May this NES Classic Project one day make it to all 1.5 million Mini NES systems world wide, muahahaha!!!
