Minecraft Free Full Version Beta 1.7 3
So, I always said to people that beta 1.7.3 was the best version of minecraft there has ever been. If anyone has played long enough to have been around for that version, they probably know what I mean. For those who came in after full release, or after beta 1.8.1, you might want to listen to what I have to say. Ok, so straight up - Beta 1.7.3 was SO much more fun, when it gets nighttime, it's DARK. It's DANGEROUS and it's actually scary. There is ofcourse no sprinting, which means if you are caught out late evening working on a build, you actually need to worry. You get an amazing thrill from the adrenalin that you DON'T GET from modern day minecraft.
So, I always said to people that beta 1.7.3 was the best version of minecraft there has ever been. If anyone has. For those who came in after full release, or after beta 1.8.1, you might want to listen to what I have to say. I, personnally fell in love with minecraft for being simple, exciting and free. Minecraft download at Minecraft En.com is a place where you can find all about the current updates for the PC version. You can join, download and enjoy whatever you want. Here, we have the latest versions of Stable Releases, Snapshot Preview, Beta and Alpha. Starting between Beta 1.7.3 and Beta 1.8, Mojang publicly.
The sprinting in modern minecraft is detremental to the gameplay, and after trying out beta 1.7.3 again, you will (as I did) realise that. There are other things, such as logs being permanently upright, the lack of 'savanna' biomes, and the fact that a window has to be a full block thick that adds a really nice feel to the game, it feels like an indie game that has a basic underlying message. The fact that you don't have the option to place a sideways logs does not deter you from building anything, in fact it adds a consistensy that feels so GOOD. It's hard to explain, but I really think everyone should go to their launcher, select b1.7.3 as the version and create a new world. Some simple things that you won't miss - Sprinting Glass Panes Endermen The End Savanna, and other ridiculous biomes that add nothing to the game. The hunger bar Animal breeding It's funny, because after playing 1.7.3 I realised that the game went backwards.
It perfected at 1.7.3, then they began screwing with basic game mechanics. They overcomplicated the game and made too many 'objectives'. I, personnally fell in love with minecraft for being simple, exciting and free. Now it has simply become complicated, boring and laborious. Go play minecraft at it's best, select Beta 1.7.3 in your launcher and try it for yourself. On the other hand, it sure was nice being able to instantly heal without no 'health potions' (which I've never bothered making); in other words, the old hunger system sounds incredibly OP to me, even with a limited ability to carry food.
IMO, Beta was just an experimental test version (that's what Beta software is). No, it is just nostalgia when people speak of how grand Beta 1.7.3 (or Alpha xxx, etc) were. Also, ironically, a common complaint about the game since then, too many caves, was actually caused by a bug that caused caves to cut off at chunk borders being fixed - yes, a BUG (same bug mentioned; the cave generator otherwise placed the same number and frequency of caves as in Beta 1.8-release 1.6.4; to me, release 1.7 is the one that broke the game; luckily there are mods and playing in older versions); after all, as I said Beta was just a buggy 'snapshot' (and I'm sure it was much more boring underground with no ravines or mineshafts). Also, diamond was.

I finally gave into all these damn people saying that the new updates suck. I tried it and I hated the hell out of it. Building in survival is extremely annoying because of no sprint and very limited blocks the world generation is better I'll give you that but with only snow forest and desert it get's really damn repetitive unlike with the 10 1.8 biomes. The boats are 100 times better but you CAN NOT convince me that bigger oceans are better. No animal farming also got annoying too with the ridiculous heath system. Endermen brought a whole new creepy level to this game and I sincerely missed them.
No command blocks no witches no structures no potions no enchantments no villagers no emeralds. The worst part is the no-sprint I wanted to see around my area and I'm so slow it's not even funny. I bought the game at version 1.2.5, so I wasn't 'around for the scene of beta 1.7.3', although I did try the PC Gamer Demo before I bought it (which was of version beta 1.3, if I remember right). Let me just say that while I got hooked from beta 1.3, I was so much happier with the release 1.2.5 I immediately ended up with when I bought it. It was such a drastically improved experience.
I can understand the thoughts that the lack of beds and no sprinting made it 'harder', and beta 1.8 was the big and sudden change that brought the initial bits of the more modern gameplay, but the lack of both features would be incredibly annoying to me these days (I know beta 1.7.3 has beds but that's another thing I sometimes hear people say the game was better without for similar reason that it made the game harder and was a useless addition). I've gone back and tried some beta versions at times (like 1.3 and 1.7.3), and ultimately, I can never stick with them, even only playing on the side, for a number of reasons, the lack of sprint being one, but overall, because they feel so bare compared to the game today. Though they have their faults, and while the old generation has some better aspects to it, I prefer the biomes and generation from beta 1.8 and later (and release 1.7 improved it further, even if it, too has some worse things about it), and it's a much more feature-rich and whole experience. The basic gameplay is still there though (which people on the other end of the spectrum complain about; that the gameplay is the same today as it was years ago). I started in beta, so I know beta 1.7.3.
Minecraft Beta 1.7
And when the new launcher was released, I tried it of course. You sir, are exactly the person I wanted to find. I miss stone bricks too, I miss hardcore mode, However, if you play b1.7.3 on hard mode, the lack of the hunger bar actually makes it more difficult. With a hunger bar you can simply walk away and just let your health regenerate.
In the old minecraft you could maybe have a max of 2-3 porkchops in your hotbar, so when fighting off the creepers tha swarmed your house during the night, you need to be extrememly careful. And then once you've eaten your 3 porkchops and are low on health, you are in serious trouble, you can't run away because a skeleton hiding under your porch will shoot you down, you can't fight because the creepers will blow up in your face. In today's minecraft, your house doesn't get swarmed. Which was the best thing about old minecraft, you actually had to stay inside and keep your head down. Then the short-range torches.
These are one of the things I loved about playing beta again, they actualy mean that you can't just light up the area and be safe, you still have to look out. I do agree that with potions, it would be alot better. As for your complaint about lack of blocks, I get it, but that was the beautiful thing about old minecraft. People never made excuses, they just found a way to build what they are looking to. I have a whole world from a creative server back then and trust me, there is no shortage of amazing builds in it.
But what I wish for, is that Mojang would listen to those who really do love the old minecraft, and make a side-version based around the old systems. Like, a beta1.7.3 with potions, stone bricks, sideways logs etc. Quote from You sir, are exactly the person I wanted to find.
I miss stone bricks too, I miss hardcore mode, However, if you play b1.7.3 on hard mode, the lack of the hunger bar actually makes it more difficult. With a hunger bar you can simply walk away and just let your health regenerate. With /gamerule naturalRegeneration false you can turn that off and play good ol' hardcore Minecraft. So it is still a feature for those who want that. Even if you play without cheats, you can enable them temporary by opening the world to LAN and after setting the command, close and restart the world. Beside that, regeneration costs hunger points, so it is not free.
If you have to regenerate a lot, you better have some decent food with you, from cows or pigs. Nowadays the skeletons are sniping very accurate and zombies spawn more zombies if you fight them without decent gear. Creepers only stop detonating from a much farther range in hard mode and if you encounter witches without milk or decent gear, you better run the nether out of you. Beside that, zombies can see you from a much farther distance, so they will still try to swarm your house if you see them, and especially if you beat them with less then an iron or diamond sword. And I have never encounter real swarmings when I played beta 1.7.3 again, it was just like it is now. But we have become more experienced, so we know now how to build a safe base quickly. As for your complaint about lack of blocks, I get it, but that was the beautiful thing about old minecraft. People never made excuses, they just found a way to build what they are looking to.
I have a whole world from a creative server back then and trust me, there is no shortage of amazing builds in it. Of course people will always be creative with what they have. In fact, restrictions are always making people more creative then limitless resources. But nowadays, Minecraft is still restricted in that. There are just more blocks and features to make more variations in color and shapes. Just a simple example: building with wool to get color is really something I don't like.
Of course, knitted skyscrapers or medival houses are cute and funny, but I rather build with real materials, so the stained clay was absolutely a welcome addition to me. Just like the real modern looking lamps in 1.8, the stained glass from 1.7 (I mean, what is a cathedral without the famous stained glass), the quartz (marble in Minecraft!), the coal blocks (real black blocks!), etc. But what I wish for, is that Mojang would listen to those who really do love the old minecraft, and make a side-version based around the old systems. Like, a beta1.7.3 with potions, stone bricks, sideways logs etc. Not going to happen, is way to complicated.
They then in fact have to maintain two games at the time. And thereby, the selection of what should be in that version and what not would be very complicated and arbitrair, because what would be 'typically beta' and what not? There are now a lot of ingame options and commands to make the game harder. In 1.8, you can even costumize the world and lock the difficulty to make the game harder. Less resources, more hills and thus dark spots for mob spawning, maybe even no caves if you want some real hardcore mining, etc. The challenges are maybe more different then in beta, but that should not be a problem. If they let you die just as often and are fun to do, then it doesn't matter.
The most important feature now is that you have the choice to play they way you want to play. With the given features, you can decide how your game is going to be. From creative mode if you just want to build freely, to hardcore mode without regeneration if you want the necessity to watch every step.
But for the average gamer it is just a game with some challenges, real dangers if you are not careful enough and tons of possibilities for if you are creative. Of course, the features have there restrictions, but hey, didn't we conclude yet that restrictions make people more creative? And you can always play some mods if vanilla Minecraft is not challenging enough for you. Quote from So, I always said to people that beta 1.7.3 was the best version of minecraft there has ever been. If anyone has played long enough to have been around for that version, they probably know what I mean.

Uh.Like now? There is ofcourse no sprinting, which means if you are caught out late evening working on a build, you actually need to worry. How does sprinting make it less scary? You get an amazing thrill from the adrenalin that you DON'T GET from modern day minecraft. The only difference is speed.
There are hills you have to jump, Zombies canspawn more of themselves them one of them is hit, and ENDERMEN.The sprinting in modern minecraft is detremental to the gameplay, and after trying out beta 1.7.3 again, you will (as I did) realise that. It's hard to explain, but I really think everyone should go to their launcher, select b1.7.3 as the version and create a new world. Now that's just being close-minded.
Some simple things that you won't miss - Sprinting I would, I think walking is a little too slow. Glass Panes It's for people who don't want to use entire blocks so they can save those full blocks. Endermen You can't be serious. The End I've never been to it in Survival, but it adds a nice challenge to others. Savanna, and other ridiculous biomes that add nothing to the game.
The hunger bar If it was removed, the game would be EASIER. Animal breeding.Sigh. Wow. It's funny, because after playing 1.7.3 I realised that the game went backwards. It perfected at 1.7.3, then they began screwing with basic game mechanics.

I think you only liked it because that was before you mastered the game. Quote from So, I always said to people that beta 1.7.3 was the best version of minecraft there has ever been.

If you have a sword and building the walls you're probably in the air doing this.
You get an amazing thrill from the adrenalin that you (ftfy)GET from modern day minecraft. The sprinting in modern minecraft is detrimental to the gameplay, and after trying out beta 1.7.3 again, you will (as I did) realise that. How does a sandbox game have a message to the player about a glass block being full? The fact that you don't have the option to place a sideways logs does not deter you from building anything, oookay, if you want it to be up get on top of it,in fact it adds a consistency that feels so GOOD. It's hard to explain, but I really think everyone should go to their launcher, select b1.7.3 as the version and create a new world.
Some simple things that you won't miss - Sprinting Holy crap it adds faster moving and you have to eat when you run out it's like an emergancy button 1 heart being chased? Double tap that w button and run! Glass Panes Endermen The End Savanna, and other ridiculous biomes that add nothing to the game. Wood, seriously whats up with you and savanna's? The hunger bar Animal breeding So you'd want to have to go kill a herd of pigs wait till they respawn then kill them again? That's way too much fuss to get some pork.
It's funny, because after playing 1.7.3 I realised that the game went backwards. It perfected at 1.7.3, then they began screwing with basic game mechanics. I, personnally fell in love with minecraft for being simple, exciting and free. Now it has simply become complicated What's so complicated about it? Finding the portal to the end?
There's so much you left out in this, boring and laborious. Go play minecraft at it's betaest, select Beta 1.7.3 in your launcher and try it for yourself. Comments in Bold, I feel like you are over worshiping 1.7.
UltimateFanboy you do realise I went back, played the game as beta for 4 days, then wrote this up? Sprinting is the biggest thing that I liked not having.
With sprinting nowadays you can get about 2x the distance in the same amount of time as before. Meaning that when you realise it's getting dark, you don't have to worry about. because 1) you can get back to base with plenty of time to spare and 2) You can simply RUN PAST ENEMIES.
As for the hunger bar, the game was harder without it for a number of reasons. 1- Made people constantly think about food, meaning nobody is ever short of any, meaning nobody is ever in that situation of 'Oh., I don't have any food and now I've done something stupid and have 3 hearts and need to be wary for the whole night'. 2- With the hunger bar, came stackable food. I can now have 128 steaks where I would previously have been able to carry just 8 hearts of health.
I am not even going to do the maths to workout how much healing 128 steaks Is equivalent to. 3- As I said before, you would only realisticly have maybe 2-3 prokchops on your hotbar at any given time. If you get into a big fight you have to eat your chops then stop and look in your inventory for more, while surrounded by enemies. 4- Actively switching to food in your hotbar during combat to heal, as oppose to just walking away and waiting a couple seconds while your hearts reapeared. ( Which when coupled with the sprint, makes combat perfectly safe and easy) I could go on but I simply don't care enough to answer all of your pokes. Do not call me a nostalgia-tard when I can back up every single thing I say.
RobertFrans, I am glad to see someone who can actually compose such a wonderful response, thank you. The only thing that I can pick up on thought is the mod thing. There are no good mods anymore, really. Remember pchan3's steampunk airship and pirates mod? Discontinued in full release 1.2.5. Ontop of this, alot of mods became redundant when Minecraft essentially implemented parts of them into the game.
• Click on magnifying glass icon to launch the Appium inspector. • Appium Inspector window will open with your app preview on right window. Automation tools list.
1.7.3 was brilliant for mods, If I wanted stained glass I could go and get the mod. There was a mod. Improved redstone? There was a mod.
Improved Building? There was a mod. Thanks for your kind words, Pyrozo007.
For myself, I do not play mods and thus do not remember those. And what is a good mod and what not is a quite subjective question. I have the idea that there are actually some good mods that enhance the way of playing. TerraFirmaCraft for example is quite good for realistic survival and Minecraft Is Too Easy seems to be well done for a more hardcore and alaborate vanilla gameplay. And a modpack as Into the Woods looks also very inspiring to me. But indeed, playing mods has some disadvantages, so it was just a small tip I gave about them.
More important are the other arguments in my post. Quote from UltimateFanboy you do realise I went back, played the game as beta for 4 days, then wrote this up? Sprinting is the biggest thing that I liked not having.
With sprinting nowadays you can get about 2x the distance in the same amount of time as before. Meaning that when you realise it's getting dark, you don't have to worry about. because 1) you can get back to base with plenty of time to spare and 2) You can simply RUN PAST ENEMIES. Strange, when I do that, I almost get killed, sniped by Skeletons, detonated, and more.
But losing hearts is (IMO) easier now. On Hard, it's PAINFUL. 2- With the hunger bar, came stackable food. I can now have 128 steaks where I would previously have been able to carry just 8 hearts of health. I am not even going to do the maths to workout how much healing 128 steaks Is equivalent to. True, but if you DID have 2 stacks, you'd be wasting food. 3- As I said before, you would only realisticly have maybe 2-3 prokchops on your hotbar at any given time.
If you get into a big fight you have to eat your chops then stop and look in your inventory for more, while surrounded by enemies. Are you serious?
In a game of fun, reality means nothing. 4- Actively switching to food in your hotbar during combat to heal, as oppose to just walking away and waiting a couple seconds while your hearts reapeared. ( Which when coupled with the sprint, makes combat perfectly safe and easy) 1. Hunger decreases over time. The old system was EASIER. There was no hunger bar, so they restored the same amount in hearts as in Hunger, making it easier. You only need 5-6 tools at a time, meaning you could have 3-4 steaks in the hotbar, which just 2 of them makes you safe.
I could go on but I simply don't care enough to answer all of your pokes. Do not call me a nostalgia-tard when I can back up every single thing I say. I called you a nostalgia-tard because it seems like you absolutely trashing the new ones and not giving them any credit. THAT'S a nostalgia tard. If you want difficulty, go get a modpack.
I recommend From The Darkness. Btw, I tried 1.7.3. It looks pretty, but I prefer the newer ones.
Sorry for the bump, but couldn't do it without leaving a reply. 1.7.3 is harder. Also, I play 1.7.3 but I get bored quickly. I like both new and older versions. 1) Armor sucked, durability was really low.
2) Armor system sucked. 3) Swords do more damage, that and Enderman doesn't exist. Those 2 are the things that make the game harder. (Someone made a 1.7.3 enderman mod, If you want Endermen in 1.7.3, there you go.) 4) You run out of food really quick. 5) On Hard, zombies do 3,5 hearts of damage. 6) Sprinting makes it a LOT easier. 7) Yes, minecraft was scarier back then.
Everything was extremely dark. 8) I just love how it's hard, but I don't like how it doesn't have a lot of things. 9) No hunger bar makes the game harder. I'm not sure if I like the hunger bar or not. For me, Pyrozo is right. The other people didn't even play 1.7.3 (Maybe they did for 5 minutes) Caving is extremely hard in Beta, because you can't have a lot of food and enemies do a lot of damage. Even in Easy, zombies do 1.5 hearts.
Now, in Hard, zombies do 1.5 hearts. Yeah, I don't like the mods now too. Most of them just make the game a lot easier. Some people use./gamerule keepInventory and./gamerule mobGriefing to make the game even easier like it's nothing. I don't like how they added commands in 1.3 in singleplayer. It is useful for maps, but most people use it for cheating. There is mods like NotEnoughItems where you can see recipes, It's okay, but some people use it for enchanting and say they're legit.
They also use./gamemode 1 often. Anyway, back to beta 1.7.3.
I love it, I get hyped for it. Play it for 20 minutes, get bored quickly. It always happens to me. I don't know.
